Early Years Foundation Stage

Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage at St. Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School

At St. Cuthbert’s, our EYFS curriculum places each child at its heart, recognising the unique potential and diverse backgrounds of our pupils. Rooted deeply in the teachings of Jesus and the Catholic Church, we nurture a loving and inclusive environment where every child is valued and supported to flourish.

We understand that the early years are a crucial developmental stage, laying the foundation for future learning, health, and happiness. Our curriculum is thoughtfully planned and sequenced to build on children’s experiences and develop their knowledge, skills, and confidence across all areas of learning.

Our approach combines purposeful play, adult-guided learning, and positive relationships to foster curiosity, resilience, and independence. We are committed to ensuring that all children, including those with special educational needs, receive the care and support they need to thrive.

Guided by the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage and inspired by the words “love one another, as I have loved you” we prepare our children not just for school readiness but for a lifelong love of learning and life itself.
